Young Polish Artists on Tour

Young Polish Artists on Tour
06/10/2011 > 13/11/2011

Creative practice of emerging Polish artists is no longer immersed in the struggle for freedom (like the artists of the 80s) or the investigation of the limits of creation (as the art of the 90s). Today artists are interested in working on projects focused on the process, using a multi cross methodology related to media and collaborative in terms of production and distribution.

Young Polish Artists on Tour is a group exhibition held in Madrid and Berlin, at the same time Poland is holding the the presidency of the European Union, with the main aim to bring the participating artists to the international circuit. Each exhibition is held in a city of reference in its regional context, and curators and groups linked to them who are invited to propose six artists. Each show is unique and works within a framework proposal that reveals new aspects of emerging polish creation.

The Madrid exhibition presents new works for the first time in Spain of Kama Sokolnicka, Zorka Wollny, Alicja Bielawska, Wojciech Bąkowski, Karolina Freino y Łukasz Ogórek. Some of them have been produced specifically for the exhibition. The artists work in the context of a research process that formulate their project, formalizing its presentation in video, performance, drawing, collage, installation, sculpture and intervention in public space.

Young Polish Artists on Tour is an initiative of Laznia Center for Contemporary Art in Gdansk, a project curated by Pensart for espacio trapézio, with the collaboration of the Polish Institute of Culture.
